Ball VS Ball uses a rock-paper-scissors counter system: every Ball has one Ball it beats and one Ball it loses to, and the cleanest loop runs through Burst → Vampire → Beam → Machine Gun → Spider.

The Core Matchup Chain
The cleanest loop to memorize runs through four named Balls:
- Burst Ball beats Machine Gun Ball, Axe Ball, and Poison Spike Ball — dashing hits land hard.
- Vampire Ball beats Cannon Ball — it latches on and drains HP back into you.
- Machine Gun Ball beats Beam Ball — it fires at the closest enemy and out-trades the beam.
- Beam Ball beats Burst Ball and Vampire Ball — its sustained beam shreds both.
- Spider Ball beats Machine Gun Ball — its webs trap the arena and zone the auto-fire out.
The short reading rule is: Burst and Vampire lose to Beam, Beam loses to Machine Gun, and Machine Gun loses to Spider. Every role in this loop beats one and loses to another.
S-Tier Balls as Universal Counters
Beyond the named matchups, the S-Tier meta Balls from the current community tier list are treated as universal counters because they perform well into most opponents:
- Shackles Ball (Mythic) — AoE traps and high raw damage.
- Glass Ball (Legendary) — shards scatter on impact and punish clusters.
- Conductor Ball (Epic) — wall-hit track spawns a train ram (Beginner Pack).
- Dice Ball (Epic) — dropped dice deal damage by face value.
- Laser Ball (Epic) — wall hits leave a laser that hurts anyone crossing.
- Spider Ball (Rare) — web traps zone the arena.
- Vampire Ball (Rare) — HP drain carries longer fights.
- Zone Ball (Rare) — persistent damage zone locks enemies inside.
If you do not know what to pick, locking in any S-Tier Ball is a safe default because it has a real answer in fewer matchups than a B-Tier or C-Tier pick.
How to Read the Choose Phase
Wait for the opponent to lock in first
The 30-second Choose Your Ball phase is the only window to read and counter, so use it.
Counter after losing the previous round
If you just lost the previous round, expect them to recycle the same Ball — counter it.
Switch your counter after winning the previous round
If you just won, expect them to switch — pick the Ball that punishes the new choice.
Read the ability card on your draw
Read the ability card on your own draw so you know what your pick actually does before you aim.
Done when: Your pick's ability card matches the matchup advantage you planned.
Aim Adjustments by Ball Type
Wall-hazard Balls
Aim straight at the back wall so hazards punish contact (for example Poison Spike Ball).
Ranged or prep Balls
Aim at a corner instead of directly at a melee opponent.
Melee Balls
Predict the opponent's escape and lead into the corner rather than chasing straight on.
Picking a Counter for Common S-Tier Threats
| Versus | Pick | Why it wins |
|---|---|---|
Vampire Ball | Beam Ball | The beam out-trades the HP drain. |
Beam Ball | Machine Gun Ball | Fires faster than the beam can sustain. |
Spider Ball | Burst Ball | Dashing hits ignore web zoning. |
Conductor Ball or Dice Ball | Laser Ball or Zone Ball | Sustained pressure so the train or dice trades unfavorably. |
